Charity Hope

Install, configure and maintain the Charity Hope WordPress theme.

System requirements

  • A currently supported WordPress release
  • PHP 8.0 or later
  • HTTPS enabled
  • At least 256 MB WordPress memory for demo imports
  • A staging backup before updates or imports

Install the theme

  1. Open Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.
  2. Upload charity-hope.zip, install it and activate it.
  3. Open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  4. Upload and activate charity-hope-core.zip.
  5. Install the supported donation and page-building integrations shown by the theme.

Import demo content

Use a clean WordPress installation and install every required plugin first. Run the importer once, then review menus, homepage assignment, permalinks, donation currency, outgoing email and image licences. Demo people, campaigns, totals, contact details and stories are fictional placeholders and must be replaced.

Configure the homepage

  • Choose the split hero image and edit both calls to action.
  • Select the featured/latest cause and confirm its Donate button opens the intended GiveWP form.
  • Review header navigation and choose the default form for the global Donate button.
  • Test desktop, tablet and mobile layouts before publishing.

Configure donations

  1. Create or edit a GiveWP donation form.
  2. Set the goal, suggested amounts, payment gateways and receipt email.
  3. Connect the form to the matching cause.
  4. Run a gateway sandbox transaction before accepting live donations.
  5. Never test a live payment with demonstration credentials.

Safe updates

Back up the files and database. Keep custom PHP and CSS in the supplied child theme, update on staging first and clear every page, object and CDN cache afterward.
